Court Reporter Information

Effective December 16, 2025, the Del Norte Superior Court’s policy regarding the normal availability and unavailability of official court reporters will be changing as follows:

  • Currently, the court may provide official court reporters in felony criminal cases, criminal trials, juvenile, family law, and Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) conservatorships, as available.
  • Unless otherwise required by law, official court reporters will not be available for infractions, misdemeanors, limited and unlimited civil, and probate.
  • The Del Norte Superior Court will provide electronic recording services for traffic court trials, misdemeanor matters, and other proceedings that the court finds good cause.

Requesting Transcripts

Transcripts can be ordered by emailing transcripts@delnorte.courts.ca.gov

In order to obtain a transcript of a proceeding or hearing, you will need to provide the following form

  • The name of the case,
  • the case number,
  • the date or dates of the proceeding or hearing
  • and the name of the court reporter.

You may obtain the above case information by calling the Del Norte County Superior Court’s main directory at (707) 464-8115 and choosing the correct division that handled your case, e.g. criminal, civil, family law, etc., or you may find the case information on this website.

Once you have the date or dates of the proceeding or hearing, the case information, and the name of the court reporter (if available) please complete this form and email or fax. (FORM- REQUEST TRANSCRIPTS)

Process to secure a Visiting Court Reporter

Attorneys and litigants in civil and probate proceedings may secure their own court reporter if a record of the proceedings is desired by contacting available court reporters.

The visiting court reporter will need to complete the “Stipulation and Appointment of Official Reporter Pro Tempore” form, located here. The form should be filed at the court, in the courtroom, the visiting court reporter was secured for. The form must be filed within five days of the court proceeding.  (FORM- PRO TEM )
